FRECO Community Fund Projects

Frome Youth Climate Action
FRECO awarded a £1,500 grant to support youth-led climate action initiatives delivered by Edventure as part of the Green & Healthy Frome project. The funding enables young people aged 12–18 to design and lead their own sustainability projects — from creative campaigns and climate art to rewilding visits, workshops, and local events. By providing flexible support, FRECO helps empower young residents to build confidence, develop leadership skills, and take meaningful action for a greener future.

Emergency Warmth Vouchers
In partnership with the Centre for Sustainable Energy (CSE), FRECO funded pre-payment energy vouchers for local households struggling to afford their bills. Between April 2021 and April 2022, 23 households received direct financial help and energy advice, improving comfort and wellbeing during the winter months.

Healthy Homes Support
FRECO funds practical items for the Healthy Homes project—a collaboration between Frome Town Council, Frome Medical Practice and CSE—to help residents living in cold or damp homes. Items such as LED bulbs, radiator reflectors and secondary glazing are provided alongside tailored home energy advice and referrals for longer-term improvements. More ...

Volunteer Coordination for Energy Advice

To expand the reach of the Healthy Homes initiative, FRECO funds a part-time Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and support local Energy Advice Champions. This enables more home visits and community drop-in sessions, doubling capacity to assist residents in staying warm and energy-efficient through the winter.
